Hilary Fitzsimons - Company Secretary

My family have lived in Smarden since 2003. Before retiring from full time employment I had worked for EDF Energy for 40 years, engaged in many senior roles but primarily developing management skills in others and with overall responsibility for the National Sales teams.

The opportunity to work alongside other EDF entities, including Nuclear Energy sites, was the perfect pre-retirement project providing both challenge and reward in equal measure.

From the beginning I was part of the Committee charged with delivering the dream of a Store and Post Office to Smarden, and today, still Company Secretary and volunteer, I am immensely proud of the successful, thriving community hub our village now enjoys.
