In 2018 having a village store and post office was just a dream for a beautiful village deep in the Kent countryside - and a gleam in the eye for a small group of talented and very determined individuals who wanted to see this dream translate into reality.

We eventually opened our doors on 29th April 2020, remaining open throughout COVID providing essential services to our community thanks to the goodwill, commitment and loyalty of our volunteers.

Today, Smarden Community Store is a thriving enterprise which is at the heart of village life. Our customers like us, what we offer and what we contribute to village life. Our aim was always to be fresh, local and sustainable, stocking appropriate products, promoting sustainable practices and providing a community hub where residents can come and meet others to chat and enjoy a hot drink and tasty snack.
